SUMMARY: Chuck were an indie band started by Orange resident Paul Mckenna after he moved to Canberra. They played quite a few gigs around Canberra for approximately two years and put out a demo cassette. The band broke up when Mckenna moved to the Blue Mountains.
ORAL HISTORY:
PAUL:
I moved to Canberra from Orange to go to Uni and started my first real
band, Chuck. Jangly distorted pop with some riffs thrown in. Like Smudge
and Helmet had a kid, and that kid grew up to become a teenage stoner.
It started as a two piece - myself on guitar and my flatmate Heidi, who I
taught/forced to play the drums. We recorded a bunch of weird little
tunes, very lo-fi. Straight to casette and put a bunch of copies in
Landspeed Records, the cool kid record store in the Civic Centre, in the
local indie rack. Then we got a second guitar player and a bass player.

PAUL:
We recorded a few demo tapes, on four track cassette as a four piece,
but we never released any of these recordings as I moved to the Blue
Mountains and the band ended.
