Unnamed Band (Sydney '94)

ORIGINS: Sydney, NSW
GENRE: Punk
YEARS ACTIVE: 1994

MEMBERS:
SUMMARY: This unnamed group was a short-lived punk band who played one show (a house party at Frenzal Rhomb singer Jay Whalley's place). The band broke up when the bassplayer moved away.

SHOWS:
  • House Party, Sydney - 1994
ORAL HISTORY:
JOHN: We played a house party around '94 with Bloodclot and another band, it was Jason Whalley's place. At the time he lived on Wilson Street, down the end where the carriage works is now. Rod Hunt was on vocals, Alistair on guitar (he lived with Jason at the time), and I can't remember the bassplayer's name but he moved to Hobart not long after that party, I think that's why the band frazzled apart. The only reason we played that party was because we used to jam at that house and we happened to have a rehearsal either the day before or on the day of the party, so we just left all our gear there.

ORAL HISTORY:
RENA: I learnt bass when I was 16 or 17 at high school. I wanted to be in a punk band and thought bass would probably be easy enough to learn. We'd practice in John or Shane's garage.

JOHN: We played a show at Max's Petersham, We were on the flyer and it was meant to be our first show and for some reason, maybe nervousness or because our guitarist pulled the plug on it a few days before the gig, we weren't gonna play it. Then all three of us were at the show and Gilesy (local legend, artist) heard we had a few songs ready to go and managed to convince our guitarist Shane that we should play a couple of songs before Toe to Toe's set. Then Gilesy went off and basically told Toe to Toe to let use their gear!
