SUMMARY: A quirky punk/blues/surf band formed over the summer of 2002-2003 while drummer Davo was spending some time in Australia on break from college in the U.S. The Trashtones only played one show but managed to document their songs in a fairly decent recording that was never formally released.
SHOWS:
- Green Square, Zetland - December, 2002
ORAL HISTORY:
ARI: The band probably only jammed 2 or 3 times as we made it up on the fly and recorded it last second. It didn't last long because it was a side project kind of done as a joke. In those days we had a very small window of time to make decent music because Davo would come back to Australia from college for about 2-3 months so we had to cram in all the music we could while he was here. We played one show at the Green Square with Gorebash and some other bands.

SHERVIN: There were a few times when Ari and Davo wanted to an acapella or blues/swing band for fun. They'd always pull me into the band... Most of the time it wasn't serious enough to play a show or record anything... but we did play one show as The Trashtones. I wasn't into the blues - I kept saying: let's go back to playing hardcore, haha.

KNIBBSY: We only did one live gig - it was an 'experimental' band, we never intended to play shows.

DAVO: The Trashtones was sleazy, trashy, and bluesy. Think Screaming Jay Hawkins meets Bad Brains - kind of a weird hodgepodge of surf rock, blues, and rock. We recorded an EP that was never released... not many people have heard it.

ARI: Probably the funniest band I've ever been involved with, the recording actually turned out to be one of the coolest sounding things I've been in. Freestyle rock, haha.
