ORAL HISTORY:
CHRIS: Getting interested in playing in a band was a natural evolution. My brother Dave is older than me - we were getting into hardcore and punk properly around '97. I found other mates that were into the same shit, which kinda rare at that age and in that era. Being teenagers we submersed ourselves into the lifestyle. It was our identity. Skateboarding and jamming; just doing covers of punk and hardcore songs, and this led to bands being formed. The first band to form from this group was Nintendo Police, and they played their first show around '96. Bad Skate Unit (BSU) was my first band. I think we only did one show and did a Black Flag song and a 7 Seconds cover, and a bunch of our own songs. Never released anything - we weren't thinking about releases and touring. It was just young kids having fun. The BSU would have been around '97.
RELATED BANDS: S. Van, Nintendo Police, King Kong, Dark Matter, Boom Bap Fam, Meataxe, Arkanoid, Bad Skate Unit
