SHOWS:

ORAL HISTORY:
RHYS: Dave started playing drums and I had a bunch of riffs that I had no use for otherwise. We'd just hang out and practice for about 30 minutes over the space of 8 hours.

RHYS: Hooray for Hate is just about two guys playing music for the fun of it. We've been best mates for 8 years now, so we're pretty much playing for each other. We just wanted a no-bullshit, no-ego, no-superstar creative environment to play music.

RHYS: It used to feel empty without bass but now I play with two amps at different settings, with a suppressor in the middle to turn one off. It's not as much of a problem anymore as it used to be. I have a line out of one amp to the pedal, then to the other amp input.

RHYS: We recorded a shitty 3 song demo on my 4-track in March 2005. Dave hurt his hand at work and can't drum, so it might be a while before we record again.

RHYS: 'ADI or Die' was about the ADI Site in Penrith that's now Jordan Springs. It was a dumping ground for a whole bunch of dodgy shit that was left buried for years. The place was home to thousands of endangered flora and fauna and they wanted to destroy it and sell it off for houses. I agree that people need houses but sometimes other things are more important.

RHYS: Our first show was 10 days after we formed. It was an Anarchoi show at Penrith PCYC, we got asked by Ryan (Anarchoi's bassplayer) to play, so we did. We probably shouldn't have, it was terrible, but it was fun all the same.
